Radon Measurement
A radon test kit includes a detector and instructions for use in your home. Radon testing does take time. Short-term tests are made over 5 days. Longer term tests require 30-120 days. The 30-day test is typical for a long-term test.
At the start of the test period, the detector is opened to the air in the basement living space. The detector is sealed at the end of the test period and sent by courier to the analytical laboratory. A record of the start date and time and end date and time is returned with the detector.
Radonmatters sells kits which provide a good balance of accuracy and cost for homeowners. We have selected a higher accuracy kit that is recommended by Health Canada called an "Electret". Results can be returned to you within 48 hours of our receipt of the returned detector. To increase the level of precision, two kits can be purchased and used simultaneously.
